The Scout O Rama will be on May 10th at Cantigny Museum on Roosevelt Rd and Winfield Road. The OA Lodge will have 2 Teepees set up in the Indian Village. Wear your sash. Come out to help all day or even just a few hours. Stop by the Indian Village and say hello. There will be Indian dancing and drumming from 11:30 to 12:30pm.
We will have a Brotherhood ceremony at Scout O Rama. Registration will be at the Indian Village before lunch with the ceremony starting after lunch. It will take about an hour. The worksheet for becoming a Brotherhood member is on the lodge website. The only cost is $15 for the sash (if you did your Ordeal last summer, the price of the sash was included, so no cost for you). What a deal!
To become a Brotherhood member - you must have done your Ordeal at least 10 months ago, pay your 2008 dues and fill out the letter in the worksheet. That is it – simple, easy and still a lot of fun.Summer Camp will be starting in about 6 weeks - Make sure your troop is registered and paid the camp fees by the early bird deadline. There is also provisional camping available. Check out the Council website. The scouts that were just elected in the Order of the Arrow this past year have received a letter explaining the Ordeal process mailed to their home this past week. The adults that were nominated will be notified by mail soon.
Even if your troop is not going to CFL this summer – scouts could still do their ordeal at CFL. Call 608-586-4312 (CFL Office) before you arrive on Wednesday at 7:30 pm. All the candidates must do their ordeal before the end of 2008 and it must be done at our Council Camp; Spring Fellowship (May 16-18), Fall Fellowship (9/12-9/14) or any of the 6 weeks of summer camp at CFL. The ordeal fees also include the Brotherhood ceremony and sash. Brotherhood must be completed within 2 years of Ordeal to be no charge. Brotherhood ceremonies are conducted every Tuesday at 12:15 pm at the CFL nature center. Check in with the OA Coordinator before noon on Tuesday. All questions should be directed to Diane Buri, Chapter Advisor at Buridi.bsa@gmail.net; Home: 630-588-8460
